Atlas Diagnostics Launches Education Committee
New group of senior clinical leaders will shape training, CPD and specialist learning for sonographers, radiographers and radiologists across Atlas and the wider.
Atlas Diagnostics has announced the launch of a new Education Committee, bringing together experienced clinical professionals to help shape the future of learning and professional development across the diagnostic workforce.
The committee has been created to strengthen Atlas’s commitment to high-quality education, ensuring staff and the wider clinical community have ongoing access to up-to-date clinical knowledge, best practice guidance, and networking opportunities. As healthcare continues to evolve, the group will identify learning needs, develop educational programmes, and support professional growth across the sector.
Leadership and membership
The committee is chaired by Dr Paul Wheeler, CEO of Atlas Diagnostics and Consultant Radiologist, and vice-chaired by Dr Gillian Hutchison, Medical Director of Atlas Diagnostics, Consultant Radiologist, and Director of Breast Screening for Manchester.
They are joined by a group of clinicians drawn from across Atlas’s modalities, each bringing specialist expertise to the table:
Susan Atkinson – Sonographer, Service Manager and Clinical Leader
Jake Wheater – Consultant Sonographer and Department Manager
Saraaz Khalil – Trainee Sonographer, AHP, Nursing & Midwifery Practice Educator
Raj Chagger – Advanced Practitioner Sonographer
Imran Ulhaq – Plain Film Reporting Radiographer
Paul Rowe – Plain Film Reporting Radiographer
Together, the group shares a commitment to supporting the development of current and future sonographers, radiographers and radiologists, both within Atlas Diagnostics and across the wider NHS.
Supporting CPD and lifelong learning
Through a range of flexible continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities, the committee will help design and deliver educational study days, specialist training programmes, and accessible online learning resources.
By fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and promoting lifelong learning, the committee is expected to play a central role in strengthening the diagnostic workforce and improving patient care in the years ahead.
A message from the Committee Chair
Dr Paul Wheeler, CEO of Atlas Diagnostics, said:
“At Atlas Diagnostics, our clinical leadership drives a strong commitment to education that goes far beyond discrepancy learning, fostering continuous professional development, collaboration, and improvement across the diagnostic workforce. We are dedicated to supporting the upskilling of our colleagues within Atlas and the wider NHS, ensuring healthcare professionals have access to high-quality learning opportunities throughout their careers.
“The aim is for Atlas Education to become a leading educational platform, delivering study days and specialist training events led by our senior clinical leadership team and supported by a carefully selected Education Committee comprising respected experts from NHS Trusts across the UK. By developing programmes that reflect current topics, emerging trends, and feedback from previous events, we can provide meaningful learning experiences that contribute to CPD requirements while creating valuable opportunities for clinical discussion and shared learning.
“Most importantly, all of our educational content is aligned with best practice recommendations and professional body guidance, helping to ensure that the knowledge and skills we develop today contribute to better patient care and a stronger, more sustainable diagnostic workforce for the future.”
